Two killers on the rise!

Few days back I read two books on "every day science", and got some very interesting and astonishing facts about human body. I want to share with all the readers of the Blog because, some way or the other it’s affecting every one, and we should be concerned about it.

In America and Europe, cancers of the breast and prostrate are epidemic and we don’t know why! But the scientific researchers are indicating the reason towards the age factor more than other factors.

For women, few prospects are more terrifying than breast cancer. For men the corresponding horror is prostrate cancer. Together they account for about one third of all new cancers diagnosed in the United States every year. The rates for both are increasing, partially due to better Detection but also to reasons that are still unknown. About one in eight American woman will get some form of breast cancer, usually after age 40. It is the second most common cancer in woman, and currently kills about 28 in every hundred thousand.

In the past researchers have linked increased risk of breast cancer to abnormal alcohol consumption, use of oral contraceptives and obesity. But the most critical factor seems to be the female hormones, estrogen and progesterone; Women who have children early in life generally have a lower incidence; women who never have children or who have them late tend to have higher rates. This may explain why breast cancer Rates are far lower in Asia than in the United States and Western Europe. After age 28 every woman who doesn’t have children are vulnerable to breast cancers and other hormones related complication and diseases.
