Well, here I am after nearly two weeks to our trip to Flagstaff, Sedona and near by places. I am still around and in good spirits. The first day of our trip was to Flagstaff Humphrey’s peak. That was the last day for chairlift sky ride to Humphrey’s peak, and we were lucky enough to catch it on time. Snowfall was very young at that time and the mountain peaks were all covered with snow, not enough snow to do skiing yet.

So as soon as we reached there, it felt so soothing. Since Phoenix is so hot and just after 2 hours drive there was the stark difference in the weather. We were all prepared with our warm clothes and jackets. At the peak temperature was 40 degree F. We put on our jacket, took a quick bite and started our journey on the chairlift sky ride. It was 1 hour ride back and forth. A soon as we started, I was prepared with my camera to take few pictures, but to my despair I dropped the camera bag from the height of about 20-30 feet and for a moment I was shocked ,what to do now ! I was not worried about the bag, but inside the bag I had the 512MB memory stick and remote control of my camera. When I looked down I saw a faint chance that after coming down I can go and pick that bag. So half of my excitement and fun was doomed there .All the way till I reached the peak, I just kept eyeballing the height and started getting more depressed. Finally I reached at the top, in a conundrum whether to hike by my self and get it or just forget about it. But then when I saw the breathtaking beauty I forgot about all the worries. My lungs were filled with fresh air, there were snow every where. Pine trees looked fresh, lush green and full of life. Oak trees started to shed their leaves as it was the fall season, and new, yellow leaves were emerging. We got down the chairlift just to roam around a little. Did some hiking and tried to capture the mental picture along with some digital pictures. Even though it was extreme cold but sun ray was intense enough to give me sunburns, since I didn’t apply the sunscreen. As long as I was there, I completely forgot about the camera bag. But as soon as I got up the chair lift to go back I started getting depressed again. I had no hope to get it back, because it started getting dark already.
But my heart was filled with joy when I saw a man hiking and picking things. I took a deep breadth. He was the same man who was at the ticket counter. So I was confirmed that he was authorized to hike there, and I am not the only stupid one to drop things. I saw several more cameras, camera bags and other tit-bits hanging on his neck, I took a sigh of relief. As my trolley approached him, I hollered him out, and made a request to look for my camera bag.
So you can imagine how happy I was .That was the time when enjoyed the ride to its fullest, even though I was not sure he will be able to find out still I had a positive inkling.
After about 10 minutes he came down. I got my camera bag and I gave him 5 dollar tip.
This trip was full of adventure, fun, history, and interesting facts, which I can not write in one post. Very soon I will write about the other places, with magnificent pictures.
(Previously I posted my picture sitting in the trolley and musing, but to maintain the credibility of my previous post "Friend Without Face" I removed it.)
