Instant Pot.

Recently I bought a much awaited  instant pot.I had this item in my wish list for more than over an year. For a 6 quart pot other wise I would have to pay $126 something .Where as I paid just $44 because of the prime day deal on amazon.

I was very happy and excited to use this instant pot as I have heard so many nice things and great meals it can cook and save me lots of time.

Now that I have it and have used it several times,I am very disappointed in this pot as all the claims I have read so far turning to be wrong one by one.

The biggest challenge people talked about was operating it ,as it has so many buttons that at times it feels overwhelming as how I am going to learn about all the features and usage of buttons and finally be able to cook something.

So let me tell you as daunting as it looks ,it is the easiest appliance you can use and work with.

Here are some of the cons of this pot :-

1) The pot-in-pot(PIP) method is complete garbage. You ask why ? Because it is too  time consuming. Rather than making your cooking time less and cleaning work to its minimum ,it takes too long to cook and cleaning work turns out to be more than if you cook items individually. What I found out is ,if you cook something straight in the pot, things cook faster. The moment you put something in another pan(as an insert) and try to cook ,it takes double the amount of time.Even worse  if you want to cook two items at the same time using PIP method. If you put a stack of two pans, for example the bottom pan with rice and top pan with Daal and set the timer for  cooking daal. What ever item you have in the bottom pan with be cooked in that time but the item in the top pan will stay as it is.

So then you get the rice pan out and put the daal pan back in the instant pot and set the timer for cooking daal. As a result there is no saving of time.

Now I just use it because ,I have one at home and so I should use it, other wise I find it much easier to use my regular pressure cooker rather that Instant Pot.

I wont be surprised if some day I decide to donate it to salvation army ,because my rule of thumb is that if I dont use some thing for more that 3 months ,I will not use it.In that case I donate it to free up the clutter.
