Let's get rid of the common mistakes we Indians make!

I am not a linguist or an expert in English language and literature. But I have observed that people from a particular country, make particular mistakes in English grammar. Although the rules of English grammar or any language is universal, the mistakes vary. Theses specific mistakes could be because of many reasons, and one of the crucial reasons is how we speak our national language or in some cases local language or our native language. A lot of mistake is due to the wrong usage or unavailability of any particular word in our native language. The most common mistakes we Indians make are as follows:- 1) Usage of “EVEN”-> Instead of using “also”, we Indians incorrectly use “even”. One of the meanings of “EVEN” is that, it used for emphasis to indicate something surprising, unlikely, or extreme. For example “Even I know how to repair a flat!” Now let me point out the mistake we Indians make. Suppose two Indians are talking to each other at the lunch time .One of the Indians will say...

Conversation in our swimming class!

It’s unfortunate that I didn’t get a chance to learn swimming while I was a kid growing up in India. After coming here to the U.S.; where I ever I go for some entertainment that place has some thing to do with water, or water activities, either swimming, or boating ,kayaking ,canoeing or fishing. It is of great advantage if you know how to swim, other wise you miss the complete opportunity of enjoyment. Any way, so I decided to take swimming lessons, and got my self enrolled. There are 6 lessons, once every week. I completed my 3rd lesson .Right now I am able to float on my back, float on my stomach. I can also kick my legs and with the help of hands movement I can move forward a little bit. So it’s a pretty nice achievement for me, who was not able to stand even for a minute over 3 feet of water. As expected there were no Americans in my class. One guy from Columbia, one Chinese woman, and the other 3 women form India. In the beginning I was a little reluctant to join the class to esc...

My first day in Toastmaster’s Club!

Image
When I was in India, I didn’t know that there is some club called Toastmaster’s International Club. It is a Communication and Leadership Program and is devoted to making effective oral communication a worldwide reality. Through its member clubs, Toastmaster International helps men and women learn the art of speaking, listening, and thinking-vital skills that promote self actualization, enhance leadership potential, foster human understanding and contribute to the betterment of mankind. I have always been a very introvert kind of person, but I never knew that I also have fear of public speaking. The first time I realized on my first day of the meeting. There is a saying that human’s second most fear (first being the fear of death) is of public speaking, and for some people public speaking is far scarier than death. This is true. In any meeting two people give the prepared speech and other members speak on table topics. Table topics are actually impromptu speaking. Any member will be p...

Do you agree?

These days we hear and read a lot about "social security fund problem". I want to keep some of my view points regarding this issue. People like us who are living here legally in U.S.A. ; for years, now are in travesty because of this “Social security fund”. “Social security” is a fund earned by any individual during his job, and he gets the benefits of that fund (just like provident fund in India ), in his old age. But ironically most of the people working as guest workers on H1 Visas eventually return to their home country. I just do not understand as to why, the guest workers have to get deducted a specific amount of money from their salary as their social security fund. In most cases 90% of the guest worker has to return to his own country, either due to the expiry of visa or passport or they could not get the green card. Then why do we need to pay any amount as social security, knowing that we might never get the advantage of that.

Marriages work like a Science!

It’s my strong belief that existences of the relationship in marriages are just like any other scientific concepts. Some times, I will just look at the two kosher material and then look at the out come of mixing them both, whether its solid or liquid .The repercussion is all new. That’s because of the science. The outcome is completely different. This thought made me think that marriages work same like this, like a science. When ever you combine two molten metals, stir them, and you can get a third, known as an alloy. Often its personality will be different from that of either component. The atoms in alloys are usually are not chemically joined, but exist in simple mixtures like different liquids in mutual solutions. Each component lends its own characteristics to the crystal lattice It’s true that, alloys lack the intimacy of metals wedded in chemical compounds. But just the same, their relationships wear well and make for a better world. Same like people. We are tot...

When dream comes true!

I do not know how people feel, in hiding their desires. Every living being on this earth has some kind of desires, some content, and some yet to get fulfilled. Those desires which are achieved, become the treasures, moments of our life and we always keep that inside our heart, feels good to remember every now and then. There are some desires, which do come true when you realy expect them. You know that, this news, or this wish is going to give you a tremendous amount of happiness. But why it is that celebration of fulfilled desires is not always important in every circumstance. You will feel difference in the celebration of your joy, in a particular place, with particular people and in particular ways. Why does this celebration changes with place and people you are with. Our desire is important only when it is also acknowledged by some one, some one who is closest to your heart, some one who really thinks, you really deserve it, some one who really feels the importance...

Sonoran desert botanical garden in Arizona

Image
Arizona Botanical Garden Last week we went to the Sonoran desert botanical garden in Arizona . It’s a place worth to see. It’s quite educative as well as very pleasant. The beautiful plants catch the eyes of every one, old as well as young and even kids too. Previously I used to wonder as to why and how the desert here is so green and beautiful. The guides were also present there to give all the informations people needed. They were all having good amount of knowledge about every plant, their generic variety, their specific quality, diversity and use. I was even astonished to see the wilderness of the empty steppe at some places, which was maintained very properly. Know the facts One interesting fact which I came to know about desert over here is, that the Sonoran desert has two rainy seasons, one in the winter and other some time during summer .In summer it is heavy rain and in winter there is light shower, and because of these two rains there is a diversity in the plantati...

Stay fit eating fruits!

FRUITS:-TOP TEN FRUITS After doing lots of experiments, eating different kinds of fruits I have come to some conclusion. How you rank a fruit, depends upon the reason you're eating the fruit and your individual tastes. The four most valuable nutrients in fruits are fiber, vitamin C, phytonutrients (health-building substances). Availability, safety, and versatility also influence these choices. Here are my rankings. Papaya Guava Cantaloupe Orange Apricots (dried) Mango Strawberries (organic) Kiwi Grapefruit (pink or red) FRUITS THAT ARE KIND TO THE INTESTINES - Allergies or illness can make the intestines more sensitive. Some fruits contain sugars that are easily absorbed into the bloodstream, while the sugar in other fruits may ferment and cause gas to build up in the intestines. This is hard on an intestinal lining already irritated by allergens or viruses. The ratio of fructose to glucose in the fruit as well as the fiber content determines how much of the sugar is absorbed. The...

This is the wall painting or poster painting of Lord Krishna ,when he captured the poisonous Shesnag(a snake) and danced on his head, which gave relieve to the people of that place This is the poster of Radha-Krishna.The relationship of Radha and Krishna is the embodiment of love, passion and devotion. Radha's passion for Krishna symbolizes the soul's intense longing and willingness for the ultimate unification with God. Krishna is the soul of Radha and Radha is definitely the soul of Krishna. She is the undivided form of Shri Krishna. She will remain a mystery unless one can know her inexpressible divine elements. She is worshipper as well as his deity to be worshipped. This is the poster Painting of Shiva-Parvati.This has a very significant meaning. This shows the Vision of Unity .Half-female Lord." Lord Siva in androgynous form, male on the right side and female on the left .Half part of the body signifies the male body and half part as female’s...

Believing God!

Believing God! From my early childhood I have always believed in God, because both of my parents were true believer in God. Now I have grown up enough to think logically about the existence of God, but still without any doubt I still believe in him. May be this is the way I am brought up. But there is a difference between worshiping God now and at that time .Earlier I never thought that God listens to me, or he will fulfill my dreams. May be it was because at that time, my parents were enough to provide me any thing. Never thought of any thing which could be denied by them, neither did I ever hesitate in asking any thing. Comparing to today’s time, I find many thing which I can’t ask openly from any one. I have some personal needs, some extreme desires, about which I would like to talk to some one. But when I look around I find no one. Earlier my mother was always there to listen to my each and every small problem, now I find myself lost. There are many things, about which I want t...

MY MOTHERLY INSTINCT

Few days back I was reading a book about the time parameters for a number of important events in the human body .This was amazing! Most text books don’t include such information. And the current scientific literature usually cites earlier studies and assumes that the reader is already intimately familiar with the back ground. But as I dove deeper into this book, it became readily apparent that the time parameters for a number of important events in the human body would be hard to find. One of the important topics was about womb life. Here a program of development is carried out, that by all accounts, mimics the evolution of animal life itself .Various stages of mammalian development resembled like lizards, or small bird, or very young mammalian. One form melt gently and inexplicably into another ;each step always following the last ,no step missed ,no step skipped. By the end of the first month of life, heart is just beginning to beat. By the time second month has ended, the embryo, fl...
